Job Responsibilities
As a Housekeeper at Rhodes University, you will be responsible for:
- Supervising cleaning staff within an assigned residence hall.
- Ensuring high cleaning standards for all student accommodations and guest facilities.
- Planning, leading, and coordinating housekeeping services.
- Submitting and following up on maintenance requests.
- Managing furniture, general upkeep, and stock control within the assigned buildings.
- Ensuring compliance with hygiene and cleaning protocols.
This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cleaning staff efficiently to maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe living environment.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification or equivalent.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial cleaning environment.
- Experience with specific hygiene and cleaning standards.
- At least 6 months’ experience in stock control and record-keeping.
- Previous administrative experience in a computerized work environment.
- Experience in drafting daily schedules and electronic correspondence.
- Supervisory or leadership experience (minimum of 2 years) OR possession of a Staff Supervision Certificate with at least 1 year of supervision experience.
