About the Role

The Health Consultant will be an essential member of the Dis-Chem team at the new Phesantekraal store. Their primary responsibility will be to promote and sell Dis-Chem Health Focus products, including vitamins and supplements, through consistent and attentive customer service. The role demands a good understanding of health products and the ability to provide expert advice to customers seeking to improve their wellness through supplements.

This position requires someone who thrives in a retail environment, enjoys interacting with customers, and is committed to helping people make informed health choices. The Health Consultant will also assist with merchandising, stock management, and administrative duties within the Health Department to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist and advise customers on vitamins, supplements, and related health products to ensure they receive the best possible care and guidance.
  • Maintain product displays in the health focus area by keeping shelves stocked and visually appealing.
  • Support back shopping and stock control processes to ensure product availability and accurate stock levels.
  • Report any pricing discrepancies to management to maintain transparency and trust.
  • Implement promotional displays and marketing materials to highlight featured products.
  • Achieve monthly sales targets set by the store, brands, and vendors, contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Stay informed about new products and developments in the vitamins and supplements sector.
  • Follow administrative processes including weekly returns and stock monitoring.

Candidate Requirements

This role is ideal for individuals with at least six months of sales experience in a health-related retail environment, particularly with vitamins and supplements. Dis-Chem values candidates who have:

  • A Grade 12 / Matric qualification (minimum requirement).
  • A strong command of the English language for clear communication.
  • Basic computer literacy, especially in MS Office.
  • Sound numerical skills for stock and sales reporting.
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Additional qualifications and experience that would be advantageous include:

  • A BSc in Biomedicine, Biotechnology, or other relevant health-related qualifications.
  • Previous experience in retail sales, particularly in health foods, supplements, or the wellness industry.
  • Fluency in a second language widely spoken in the Durbanville area to better serve the local community.
