Joburg City Theatres (JCT) operates three leading venues: Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, Roodepoort Theatre in the west, and the Soweto Theatre. Available Internship Positions

For the 2025 intake, the Joburg City Theatres Internship Programme is offering internships in the following departments:

1. Customer Services / ICT

  • Reference Number: ICT/05/2025
  • Location: Joburg Theatre, 163 Civic Boulevard, Braamfontein
  • Number of Posts: 1
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Grade 12 or NQF level 4 certificate
    • Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent
    • Computer literacy (MS Office Applications and email)

This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about IT systems and customer support, particularly in a theatre setting. You’ll gain hands-on experience with ICT operations in a busy cultural institution.

2. Finance

  • Reference Number: FN/05/2025
  • Location: Joburg Theatre
  • Number of Posts: 2
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Grade 12 certificate
    • National Diploma in Accounting or an equivalent qualification
    • Computer literacy

The Finance internship provides a unique opportunity for accounting graduates to apply their academic knowledge in a real workplace, supporting budgeting, financial planning, and day-to-day accounting tasks.

Requirements

To be considered for this programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Be unemployed
  • Have completed your qualification at a recognized South African institution
  • Need experiential training to complete your studies
  • Be fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be able to transport yourself to and from the internship location

Internship Benefits

Interns will be appointed on a fixed 12-month contract. During this time, they will receive a monthly stipend of R5,803.56. This payment is meant to help cover basic expenses during the internship period.

However, it is important to note that JCT is under no obligation to hire interns permanently after the programme ends. This is strictly a skills development initiative designed to give you a competitive edge in the job market.
