Key Responsibilities of a Cafeteria Assistant
The Cafeteria Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of the school’s cafeteria. These duties include:
Food Preparation and Sales
- Assisting in the preparation and sale of food and related products to learners, parents, and teachers.
- Supporting the cooked/warm food preparation process when required.
- Handling cash transactions accurately, ensuring the correct amount is received and given in return.
- Collaborating with the Cafeteria Supervisor to monitor and provide input on product sales and pricing.
- Acting as an ambassador when interacting with learners, staff, and the public.
- Supporting the catering team during special events by assisting in food preparation and service.
Maintaining Cleanliness, Health, and Safety Standards
- Ensuring that workspaces remain clean and hygienic at all times.
- Wearing appropriate attire when handling food products.
- Assisting in cleaning cafeteria equipment and maintaining a tidy tuck shop area.
- Supporting the Cafeteria Supervisor in implementing and adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
