Purpose of the Role
As a Collection Agent, your primary responsibility is to recover outstanding debts from customers. You will communicate with clients via telephone, helping them make payments and educating them on their financial obligations.
This role is crucial in ensuring that FinChoice minimizes bad debts and maintains a healthy cash flow. Your goal is to help customers rehabilitate their accounts while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Collection Agent at FinChoice, your main tasks will include:
1. Revenue Generation
- Collect outstanding money from profile 0 – 2+ delinquent accounts (60-90 days overdue).
- Secure “promise to pay” commitments from customers.
- Educate and rehabilitate customers on managing their payment profiles.
- Consistently meet daily collection targets.
2. Efficiency and Productivity
- Follow a structured call script to negotiate payments from customers.
- Ensure all interactions are recorded accurately in the system.
- Meet departmental Key Performance Areas (KPAs).
- Complete daily lost time sheets to ensure productivity tracking.
- Look for ways to improve efficiency in performance, communications, and systems.
3. Customer Service
- Approach customer negotiations professionally, ensuring positive relationships.
- Provide polite, friendly, efficient, and professional service to all customers.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect the company’s reputation.
4. Quality Standards
- Ensure first-time resolution in customer queries.
- Accurately capture all customer agreements and payment commitments into the system.
- Follow company policies and comply with legal and ethical standards.
Job Requirements

Qualifications & Certifications
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of collections experience in a contact center environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be comfortable working shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Clear credit and criminal record is required.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Email, Internet, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and customer handling skills.
