Requirements
This programme is aimed at recent or soon-to-be graduates who are ready to kick-start a professional career in tax. To qualify, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in:
- Commerce
- Accounting
- Law
- Economics
- Or a similar field
- A Postgraduate qualification in Tax (such as an Honours degree)
In addition, Deloitte is looking for people who are:
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Tech-savvy and able to work in virtual teams
- Good communicators – both in writing and speaking
- Team players who are also comfortable working independently
Programme Structure – What to Expect
The programme has two main stages:
1. Training Phase (4 Months)
- A full-time, intensive training programme led by international Deloitte experts
- You’ll learn all about Indirect Tax laws, systems, technology, and client services
- Training includes real-world case studies, collaboration with Netherlands-based teams, and simulated client challenges
- You’ll build a foundation in areas like VAT, customs tax, supply chain management, and cross-border transactions
2. Work Placement Phase (After Training)
- If you successfully complete the training, you’ll be employed full-time in the Indirect Tax Graduate Programme
- You’ll work as a Junior Indirect Tax Consultant, assisting international Deloitte clients
- Your work may include:
- Advising companies on VAT compliance
- Analyzing tax issues in different industries
- Collaborating with tax experts in South Africa and Europe
