Job Overview
The Fashion Designer role at Truworths is a permanent, on-site position within the company’s Merchandising division. Key Responsibilities
As a Fashion Designer at Truworths, your role will include the following key responsibilities:
- Trend Analysis & Global Inspiration
- Stay up to date with global fashion trends from key fashion capitals like the USA, UK, and Europe.
- Use information from international trend institutes, fashion fairs, and retailers to identify relevant colours, fabrics, styles, and trims.
- Apply this trend knowledge to the Truworths brand, ensuring the design stays current and innovative for the upcoming season.
- Design and Conceptualization
- Use your design expertise to create exclusive and innovative garments for Ladieswear, Menswear, and Kidswear.
- Ensure each garment fits into the larger seasonal vision for the brand, balancing creativity and marketability.
- Design exclusive, high-quality garments in limited quantities to maintain Truworths’ unique brand appeal.
- Collaboration with Teams
- Work closely with Buyers, Planners, and Merchandise Leadership to share trend insights and design ideas.
- Inspire and energize the team to create designs that align with business goals while meeting customer demands.
- Collaborate with other designers and creative staff to ensure cohesive and on-trend product ranges.
- Exclusive Product Ranges
- Design limited-edition collections that are exclusive to Truworths, ensuring that the products remain unique and sought after.
- Keep product ranges fresh and exciting, contributing to the ongoing success of Truworths’ seasonal collections.
Qualifications and Experience
Truworths is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in fashion design within a retail or creative manufacturing environment.
- Experience as both a Fashion Designer and Fashion Buyer is a plus, as this would bring a holistic understanding of both creative and commercial fashion roles.
- A strong portfolio showcasing relevant design work and highlighting creative ability, particularly in product development.
- A proven ability to work under pressure while delivering high-quality design work.
