About the Role
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for a variety of financial and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of financial management at ARC. The successful candidate will assist with monthly reconciliations, financial reporting, invoicing, and data accuracy.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills who can work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly reconciliations and resolve prior year discrepancies.
- Conduct data cleansing and reviews to ensure accuracy.
- Process collections and ensure complete financial transactions.
- Compile and evaluate performance reports for each project.
- Prepare financial reports and submit income reports to funders.
- Ensure all audit queries are attended to and resolved.
- Prepare and post journals for financial records.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
- Manage externally funded projects to avoid operational losses.
- Use Microsoft Excel effectively for financial analysis.
- Prepare and submit budget proposals for approval.
- Work with project managers on budget revisions and financial planning.
- Invoicing external customers and following up on outstanding debtors.
- Maintain computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office and SAGE.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications and skills:
Educational Qualifications
- NQF Level 6 in Accounting, Cost & Management Accounting, or Management Accounting.
- Any relevant finance qualification will also be considered.
Experience & Skills
- 2 to 3 years of experience in the accounting or finance field.
- Strong debtor reconciliation abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail.
