Minimum Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or Senior Certificate.

  • Certification in Retail Business Management will be a plus.

Key Responsibilities

As a Frontshop Assistant, the candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks designed to ensure smooth operations and high customer satisfaction levels at Dis-Chem Scott Street Pharmacy:

  1. Stock Management: The Frontshop Assistant must ensure that all products are correctly displayed on shelves and that stock levels are maintained. This includes monitoring expiration dates and ensuring that products are rotated regularly. Out-of-stock items should be addressed promptly and the assistant will follow up on customer queries related to stock availability.
  2. Customer Service: One of the primary aspects of this role is providing exceptional customer service. The assistant will assist customers with their inquiries, making sure they find what they need and offering helpful advice. A professional and friendly demeanor is required to build strong relationships with customers.
  3. Transaction Handling: The assistant will be tasked with processing all types of payments, including cash, cards, and vouchers. The role also involves assisting with returns and exchanges of merchandise, following the store’s procedures.
  4. Housekeeping and Merchandising: The assistant will maintain a tidy store environment by ensuring shelves, displays, and stock areas are organized and clean. This includes reporting any discrepancies, damages, or expired items to management for swift resolution.
  5. Stocktaking: Assisting with the stocktaking process and ensuring that all items are accounted for is an important part of this role. The assistant will also help load and offload stock deliveries when necessary.
  6. Teamwork: The Frontshop Assistant will work closely with the rest of the team, helping train new members and assisting in the daily operation of the store. The assistant will adhere to Dis-Chem’s policies, including health and safety standards, and maintain high levels of professionalism.
