Key Responsibilities of the Role
The selected applicant will be responsible for the following key duties:
Developing and Implementing Safety Policies
- Establish and enforce health and safety procedures within the organization.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to ensure compliance.
Health & Safety Inspections
- Carry out safety inspections on construction sites.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective measures.
- Manage the company’s SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) system.
Training and Compliance
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safety practices.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
Record Keeping and Security Management
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and training activities.
- Conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
- Manage the company’s security contract.
Collaboration with Management
- Work closely with management to promote a culture of workplace safety.
- Handle sensitive safety-related information with confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Education & Experience
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a senior or supervisory position.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Expertise in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Additional Certifications & Skills
- Proficiency in using health and safety management software.
- Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, SAMTRAC) is preferred.
- Knowledge of the water and wastewater industry is an added advantage.
- Qualified in HSE representative and first aider level 2.
