About the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA)
The SHRA is a public entity under the Department of Human Settlements, with a mandate to provide rental social housing to low- and medium-income earners, as outlined in the Social Housing Act, No. 16 of 2008. As a Schedule 3A public entity, SHRA plays a critical role in the implementation of social housing projects and the regulation of rental housing across the country. Position Overview: Supply Chain Management Intern
The Supply Chain Management (SCM) Internship is aimed at providing recent graduates with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of supply chain management within the public sector. The intern will be placed in the Supply Chain Department of the SHRA and will report directly to the SCM Manager.
Key Learning Areas:
The internship will offer the following key learning areas:
- Contract Management: The intern will be involved in supporting the development and management of contracts, ensuring that all terms and conditions are met by both internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance: Interns will assist in ensuring compliance with important regulations such as the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Procurement and Public Finance Management Acts (PPPFA), Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE), and corporate governance standards.
- Tender Evaluation: Interns will have the opportunity to assist in evaluating tenders, including Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Bids (RFB).
- Order Processing: Interns will help with processing purchase orders and ensuring a smooth order-to-delivery cycle.
- Document Management: The role involves assisting in managing supply chain-related documents, ensuring proper tracking of contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and other related documents.
- Administrative Support: The intern will also provide general administrative support to the Supply Chain team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Contract Management: Ensure the smooth execution of contracts in line with the organization’s objectives.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all procurement processes comply with relevant regulations, including the PFMA, PPPFA, BBBEE, and SCM regulations.
- Tender Assistance: Assist in evaluating and processing tenders to ensure fair and transparent procurement processes.
- Order-to-Delivery Process: Support the SCM team in managing the entire purchase order process.
- Documentation Support: Maintain accurate documentation, ensuring that records are up-to-date and compliant with ISO standards.
- General Administrative Support: Provide general support to the SCM department, handling administrative tasks and helping resolve supply chain issues.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicants should meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Matric Certificate: A Grade 12 or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- National Diploma or Equivalent: A National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Purchasing Management (NQF Level 6) is required. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF Level 7) will be an added advantage.
- No Prior Experience Required: This position is open to recent graduates with no prior work experience required.
- Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A good understanding of public sector procurement legislation and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
