About the Role
The role of a Wholesales Representative at Boxer Superstores is a permanent position within the Commercial and Marketing Division, specifically under the Buying Department. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving sales across the Eastern Cape, focusing on informal trading, including spaza shops, cash & carry stores, and wholesale vendors. The successful individual will be responsible for canvassing and selling baskets of groceries to various townships across the region.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Wholesales Representative will be expected to:
- Territory Coverage: Travel extensively across the Eastern Cape to engage with multi-national informal independent retailers and spaza shops.
- Cold Calling: Initiate contact and build strong relationships with potential clients through effective cold-calling.
- Door-to-Door Selling: Utilize experience in door-to-door sales to promote and sell grocery staple baskets, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Sales Management: Implement and manage a robust call cycle system to maximize sales opportunities while building long-term relationships with clients.
- Retail Expertise: Bring an in-depth knowledge of cash & carry, wholesale, and informal retail markets to the table, contributing to Boxer’s growth and success in these areas.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, the candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Experience: A proven track record of at least 3 years of sales experience in Cash & Carry, Wholesale, and informal trading, with particular focus on spaza shops and local vendors. Door-to-door sales experience is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Intermediate skills in IT software for order management and reporting.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for negotiating and building lasting client relationships.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with little supervision, managing time effectively and meeting set targets.
- Market Familiarity: A deep understanding of rural market dynamics and township trading practices.
- Educational Requirements: At least a Matric qualification. An Advanced Certificate or Diploma is a plus.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is mandatory, as the role requires extensive travel to rural areas.
- Location: The candidate must be based in or around the Eastern Cape, with the ability to travel frequently within the coastal regions.
